Sept. 11 Victims Honored in Green Brook [Video]

One by one, a procession of Green Brook residents picked a white rose and announced the name of a friend, loved one or coworker who was killed on Sept. 11, 2001, during the township's ceremony Tuesday at Top of the World Park.

Each rose was placed near the engraved name of the remembered person on the brock wall that surrounds the township's Sept. 11 memorial.

The candlelight ceremony provided a heartfelt and meaningful touch to the evening's event, which also included an invoctation by EMS Chief Darlene Breen and a benediction by Anthony Ingrassia, brother of Sept. 11 victim Christopher Ingrassia.

The ceremony was hosted by Freeholder Director Pat Walsh, and attended by members of the Township Committee and about 20 residents. Kathryn Mohn read "The Names," a poem written by Billy Collins about the names of the victims of the terrorist attacks.

Eight of those victims were singled out for honor by Green Brook: Lydia Estelle Braco, Timothy Stackpole, John Grazioso, Timothy Grazioso, Stephen Patrick Dimino, Christopher Ingrassia, Kermit Charles Anderson and former Green Brook Fire Chief Alvin Kappelmann Jr.
