Watchung Board OKs Contract Terms for New Superintendent

Valley View Principal Barbara Resko set to move down the hall to superintendent's office July 1.

The Watchung Borough Board of Education named Valley View School Principal Barbara Resko to replace Mary Louise Malyska, who retires at the end of June, in April, but only confirmed the terms of her new contract at the May 29 meeting.

Board Vice-president Jeffrey Bonner noted the contract, which sets Dr. Resko's annual salary at $135,000, includes qualitative and quantitative goals for the contract's three-year term.

"All of the goals we designed were approved by the (county executive) superintendent," Bonner said. The goals would allow for a possible bonus totaling 14.99 percent, he added.

"There's not a whole lot of room to move in the contract, the way the legislation is set up," he said.
