Watchung Launching Fundraising Foundation

Watchung Borough is creating the Watchung Community Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization to enable fundraising for various community projects.

Borough CFO Bill Hance has completed the filing, and said the foundation could serve as a conduit for donors to contribute to Historical Commission needs or Recreation Commission projects.

Hance said the filing creating the non-profit foundation still needs state and IRS approval, adding the broough had to define how the funds would be used.

"We said it was to fundraise for borough projects," Hance said.

Mayor Gerald Mobus congratulated Hance on the project.

"I can't believe it hasn't been done before," he said.
