Watchung Receives $11K Clean Communities Grant

Part of $330,000 grants awarded in 21st Legislative District.

Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean, Jr., Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick, and Assemblywoman Nancy MuƱoz, all R-Union, Morris and Somerset, announced today that the Department of Environmental Protection has approved Clean Communities Grants for District 21 that total over $330,000.

The grants include $31,435 for Warren and $11,403 for Watchung Borough.

"For 20 years, the Clean Communities Grant Program has yielded tangible, visible results in our communities by enabling municipalities to perform a variety of anti-litter projects, from storm drain clean-up to removing graffiti along roadways," Sen. Kean said.Ā "We are pleased that so many communities in District 21 will benefit from this year's grant awards."

"Having our towns clean and free from litter adds to the charm of our great communities," added Bramnick.Ā "These grants will help our towns defray some of the costs of cleaning our parks and downtowns."

"The Department of Environmental Protection continues in these difficult fiscal times to be a funding source for our municipalities, demonstrating the ongoing partnership between local and state government," said Muñoz.
