WATCHUNG EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION TO HOLD TRUNK OR TREAT ON OCTOBER 28
The Watchung Educational Foundation (WEF) will hold a Trunk or Treat Event at the Bayberry Elementary School in Watchung on Friday, October 28 from 5p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Parents and their children can dress in their favorite costume and collect candy and other treats that will be provided at the event. There is a suggested donation of $5.00/child attending the event.
Parents wishing to decorate their trunks and distribute candy must register their car by emailing the WEF at wefundwatchung@yahoo.com. The WEF will confirm this registration by email as there is limited space available in the Bayberry parking lot. Participants are encouraged to have their cars parked and decorated by 4:30 p.m. on the day of the event. There will be a $100 Gift Card awarded for the “best trunk”. Mayor Steve Pote will serve as judge for this contest. In addition, there will be a raffle held on site for an Apple Watch.
Residents are also encouraged to donate candy or treats for the event by October 25. “We encourage candy donations to be peanut free, but cannot guarantee all treats will be peanut free. Collection bins for the candy will be provided at the Bayberry and Valley View Schools,” WEF President Sharyn Bilenker said.
Cash donations to WEF will be accepted at the event. 100 percent of WEF funds will go to funding educational programs at the Valley View and Bayberry Schools.
