Watchung HiIls' Pollera, DiRosa, Magaldo Advance to Quarterfinals

Watchung Hills Regional has three wrestler advacing to Saturday's final rounds of the regional tournament underway in Union, according to NJ.com's live blog from the tournament.

Alex Pollera started the day with a 7-0 decision over Westfield's John Fuller, at 113 lbs., and followed with a 1-0 decision over Nick Tekula, from Linden. In Saturday's quarterfinals, he'll meet no. 3 seed Nick Farro, from Delbarton, according to Trackwrestling.com. 

Mike Magaldo built a solid lead in his opening match with Cranford's Andrew Tompkins, winning 21-4, in the 126 lbs. bracket. He then pinned Rahway's Isaac Valentin in 1:20. His quarterfinal opponent will be no. three seed Genaro Cuccolo, from Hanover Park.

He was followed by Anthony DiRosa's solid 7-1 decision over Tom Grosso, of Seton Hall Prep, in the 145-lbs. bracket. He followed up by beating Cranford's Niko Capello, 2-1. His next match will be against Delbarton's Dan Reed, the tournament's no. 2 seed. 

Watchung's Anthony Rizzolo was decisioned by Kyle Kania, who pulled a reverse in sudden death to win after 1-1 tie after three periods.
