Bearing Gifts, Frisbee Team Thanks Board for Support
Girl team preparing to defend state title this weekend.
Just back from the Northeastern Regional USA Ultimate Frisbee championships, where Watchung Hills Regional's girls team took second place, team members Olivia Hampton, Julie Park and Evey Le stopped by the meeting Monday with gifts.
After expressing their appreciation for the board's support for the team, which is currently the state champion (which they will defend this weekend) and ranked second nationally, Julie and Evey handed medals from the Regional competition to the board members.Ā
"We'd like to thank you for the funding," Olivia said. "We really thank you for the support that really made it possible to go up there and achieve what we did."

The team is not a varsity sports program, but a school club. Team members organize their own practices and game schedulesāthe sports is also played without officials, with the players monitoring play themselves.
She noted the students in t have enjoyed not only athletic success, but scholastic achievements as well.

"To see the eminience you kids have achieved in your sport and in academicsāwe can't wish for anything greater," board President Robert Horowitz said. "You are personifying the words 'student athletes' at Watchung...we are so very proud of what you've done for our school."
The team will face Westfield and perennial foe Columbia this week in the state championship.
