Watchung Walmart Shoplifted Twice in 90 Minutes, Cops Say

In each incident, police say a woman allegedly stole items valued at more than $100.

The Watchung Police Department reports filing charges in two separate Aug. 20 shoplifting incidents at the Walmart at 1515 Route 22.

According to a department arrest report, Highland Park resident Danielle Wessels, 31, was taken into custody by police at about 2:15 p.m. on suspicion of stealing baby formula. Police said the value of the formula was $157.10. 

A little more than an hour later, the department store was hit again, police said. At about 3:30 p.m., 18-year-old Kathleen J. Ventura, of North Plainfield, allegedly shoplifted two phone cases valued at $136.22 and was detained by officers.

Both Ventura and Wessels received a summons and each was released pending a court appearance, police said.
