Watchung Wolverines Flag Football Takes on South Plainfield
Season continues for Watchung flag football enthusiasts.

It was a big week for Wolverines flag football.
Senior Flag
The Wolverines Senior Flag Team took on the Eagles of South Plainfield. The Wolverines offense racked up 300 yards on the ground and scored twice. Ryan Johnson finished the day with 95 yards rushing and one touchdown. Chase Miller broke a 30-yard scoring run finishing with 50 yards rushing. Kyle Checchio (5 carries for 50 yards), Jayden Fernandez (5 carries for 55 yards) and Jack Clintock (3 carries for 15 yards) helped the offense rack up the yards. William Morreale had a nice 15-yard run in the second half. Jackson Acosta and David Dubas battled to open up holes for the running game.
The Wolverines' defense battled a tough Eagles offense allowing only two scores on the day. Ryan Johnson led the defense with ten flags with Kyle Checchio grabbing eight. Jayden Fernandez had a big interception to keep the game
tied and finished the day with six flags. Chase Miller (4 flags), Max Phillips (2 flags), Charles Morreale (2 flags), Jack Clintock (2 flags) and David Dubas (1 flag) all contributed on defense.
Blue Flag
The Watchung Hills Wolverines Blue Flag team took on the Eagles of South Plainfield. The Wolverines' offense finished the day with 275 yards rushing and five scores. The offense was led by quarterback, Brayden Kelly, who rushed
for 125 yards and three touchdowns on four carries. Colin Kolakowski had 25 yards rushing on three carries and a touchdown. Jadon Prinzivalli ended the first half with a 30-yard touchdown run. Byron McCann (3 carries for 25 yards),
Michael DiNardi (3 carries for 15 yards) and Perry Weingarten (2 carries for 25 yards) added to the rushing attack. The offensive line of Jack Martin, Lucas Garcia, Gerald Tobia and Kevin Butler drove the defense off the ball opening up huge holes for the running backs.
The Wolverines' defense was dominant throughout the game holding the Eagles offense to only 40 total yards and keeping them out of the end zone. Colin Kolakowski was a monster at his linebacker spot pulling ten flags on the day.
Brayden Kelly was tough on defense grabbing six flags. Jadon Prinzivalli and Perry Weingarten grabbed two flags each and Jack Martin grabbed one. Lucas Garcia ended the game with a touchdown saving grab.
Gold Flag
The Watchung Hills Wolverines Gold Flag team battled the Eagles of South Plainfield in a hard fought contest. The Wolverines offense reached the end zone six times on 265 yards rushing. K.J. West touched the ball two times and
reached the end zone each time. West had touchdown runs of 20 and 40 yards. Cameron Kolakowski racked up 65 yards rushing and two scores. Kyle Ling had a long 40-yard touchdown run leading Eagles defenders all over the field.
Max Yaeger capped off the scoring with a punishing 35-yard touchdown run. Aidan Grochowski finished the day with 40 yards rushing on three carries and Mason Kelly had 20 yards rushing on two carries. Jack Butterfield, Stephen Prisco, Nicolas Betancourth and Nicholas Valenti anchored the offensive line helping to spring the running backs.
The Wolverines' defense battled a tough Eagles offense that scored five times. K.J. West led the defense with four flags and Kyle Ling pulled two. Cameron Kolakowski, Mason Kelly, Jack Butterfield, Charlie Betzner and Max Yaeger each
pulled one flag on the day.
