Watchung Woman Injured, Two Hospitalized After Accident

Mountain Avenue in Warren remains closed after early morning accident.

A Watchung woman riding in a vehicle that went off Mountain Avenue in Warren and hit a utility pole was treated and released for injuries, while two others in the vehicle have been hospitalized with serious injuries, according to Warren police.

Police said the vehicle was traveling westbound on Mountain Avenue, near Sage Drive, when it went off the road and hit a utility pole at about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Driver Tyler Delino, 24, of Gillette, was taken to Morristown Medical Center for treatment of head injuries received in the accident.

Warren resident Steven Russo, 26, a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle, was taken to the UMDNJ in Newark for treatment of neck and back injuries.

Natasha Davis, 22, of Watchung, was riding in the back seat of the vehicle and sustained minor injuries, which were treated at the scene, police said.

Mountain Avenue remains closed between Hillcrest Road and Valley View Drive, as investigators with the Warren Police Department and Somerset County Crash Investigation Team continue to investigate the cause of the accident, and for repair of the utility pole and lines. Police said possible charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. 

Area rescue squads, including Warren, Watchung and Berkeley Heights, responded to the scene to provide extrication from the vehicle, with Warren Townshp Fire Department volunteers. Also responding were Berkeley Heights police.
