Watchung's Centennial Anniversary Event Series Returns Next Month

The borough is celebrating its 100th anniversary as well as America's 250th birthday.

WATCHUNG, NJ —The Borough of Watchung will continue its centennial and America 250 event series with a patriotic walk on the Fourth of July.

The Patriot Walk will be held at Watchung Lake from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Additional planned events include a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on Sept. 11, Movie Night on Sept. 18, a Fishing Derby on Sept. 26, a Centennial Golf Outing on Oct. 5, and a Centennial Gala on Oct. 17.

Watchung was organized on April 20, 1926, and incorporated by the NJ Legislature on May 23, 1926.

The last US Census has Watchung with 6,449 residents. Watchung is known for its scenic mountains, family-oriented community, highly rated schools and commuting convenience.
