1 Dies In North Jersey Apartment Fire: Prosecutor

David Bork, 69, was found in his first-floor apartment unconscious, authorities said.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A man was killed after his North Jersey garden apartment caught fire Wednesday morning, authorities announced.

David Bork, 69, was found unresponsive in his apartment at 1 Garden Court, building C in Clifton, said Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes.

Police and fire personnel responded to the apartment at 7:30 a.m. on a report of smoke and fire, Valdes said.

Bork was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment where he later died, the prosecutor said. No one else was injured as a result of the fire, which was contained just to Bork's apartment.

Authorities continue to investigate the fire. More information will be released once it becomes available, Valdes said.
