1 Killed, 1 Critical After Passaic County Shooting: Prosecutor

The investigation continues after a 45-year-old man was killed, authorities said.

PATERSON, NJ — A shooting left one person dead and another in critical condition early Sunday morning in Paterson, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.

Police responded just before 2 a.m. to the report of a shooting around Belle Avenue and Hopper Street in Paterson, authorities said. Officers found two people — a 45-year old Paterson man and a 28-year-old Paterson woman — with gunshot wounds, according to the prosecutor's office.

Officials took both to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the woman was listed in critical condition. The prosecutor's office didn't publicly identify either person as of Monday afternoon.
