164 Bags of Heroin Seized, 7 People Arrested In Wayne
One man allegedly hid drugs in his car's engine while two others allegedly tried to bury their drug paraphernalia in a parking lot: police.
Seven people were arrested and 164 bags of heroin were seized in less than a week, Wayne police said.
- Police saw a speeding BMW with blacked-out windows on Route 23 Sunday afternoon abruptly pull into the Wendy’s parking lot, said Capt. Laurence Martin.
The driver, William J. Roberts, 40, was extremely nervous and confused about why he was driving the way police said he was, Martin said. He allegedly told police he was coming from a job interview in Paterson but couldn’t remember the company’s name.
Police allegedly found 25 glassine bags of heroin stamped “Bada Bing” and ”Good Work” along with seven bags of crack cocaine, one unpackaged crack rock, and a glass crack pipe, police said.

Roberts, of Ogdensburg, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and was issued a motor vehicle summons for possession of narcotics in a motor vehicle, police said.
- Detective Jason Goller was patrolling the NJ Transit bus depot near the Willowbrook Mall Friday when he saw a suspicious male running towards the mall constantly looking over his shoulder, police said.
The man, Anthony Bellina, 30, went into the men’s bathroom inside the mall “for an extended period of time” and quickly went back to the bus depot, again looking over his shoulders, Martin said.

While Goller was speaking to him, a bag of heroin fell from Bellina’s pants; Goller found 42 bags of heroin and six capped needles on Bellina, police said.
Bellina was charged with possession of heroin, being under the influence of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. He also had six warrants out for his arrest.
- Detective Paul Kindler saw three suspicious people in the A&P parking lot on Valley Road Friday afternoon, police said.
Two men and a woman were allegedly trying to bury syringes in the parking lot behind their vehicle, Martin said.
Detectives Ken Hart, Brendan Rigler, and Kindler interviewed them and determined they were under the influence of heroin, authorities said.
David Mullen, 46 of Oakland, had 24 bags of heroin stamped with “On Demand” in his possession; Ronald Lenney, 38 of Oak Ridge, had eight bags of heroin stamped “On Demand” and a hypodermic needle in his possession, police said.
The woman, Jenny L. Smith, 33 of Oakland, told police she was somebody else, authorities said.
The three tried to bury five empty bags of heroin in the parking lot, Martin said.
Mullen and Lenney were arrested and released on summons. Smtih was turned over to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department on outstanding warrants, police said.
Smith was charged with using or being under the influence of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction of the administration of the law, police reported.

- Officer Vincent Ricciardelli pulled a 2012 Subaru over Thursday afternoon while patrolling Hamburg Turnpike, police said.
Ricciardelli noticed that the driver and passenger were nervous and shaking; the driver, Paul Dickson, 30, was arrested after police learned he had an outstanding warrant issued in Hudson County, Martin said.
Police found 12 bags of heroin stamped with “New Arrival” on them, police said.
Dickson was charged with possession of heroin, released on a summons, and was turned over to the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department on the no-bail warrant, police said.
- While conducting property checks on Route 23 Sept. 8, Detectives Jason Goller and Brendan Rigler saw a 1997 grey Honda Accord parked with the hood open and a “suspicious” person leaning over the engine, police said.
The man, Elijah Robert Peters, 19, removed a white object from inside the car’s fuse box, police said, closed the hood, and went into the car.
Police saw that he had droopy eyelids and constricted pupils, Martin said; Peters admitted that he was under the influence of heroin.
Authorities found 50 bags of heroin, 40 of which were stamped “Spiderman,” a bag of crack cocaine, and four hypodermic needles, during a search, police said.
Peters was charged with possession of heroin, possession of crack cocaine, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic needle, and being under the influence of narcotics, Martin said. He was released on a summons complaint pending court appearances, authorities said.
