2 Wayne Students Receive Spencer Savings Bank Scholarships

Christine Han of Wayne Hills High School and Muhammad Hozien of Schuyler Colfax Middle School received $1,500 in scholarships.

WAYNE, N.J. — Two township students received scholarships from Spencer Savings Bank recently.

Christine Han of Wayne Hills High School received a $1,000 scholarship. Muhammad Hozien of Schuyler Colfax Middle School received a $500 scholarship.

Spencer awarded a total of $24,500 to 32 students throughout New Jersey June 27 continuing its ongoing commitment to supporting local schools, students and families. Seventeen high school students received $1,000 scholarships and 15 middle schoolers received $500 scholarships.

Since its inception in 2002, the Spencer Scholarship Program has awarded more than $340,000 in scholarships.

“Education not only empowers our children, but builds stronger communities,” said José B. Guerrero, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Spencer Savings Bank. “As a local bank with local roots, it is part of Spencer’s mission and purpose to support these students’ academic pursuits so that they can dream big. Likewise, this is our way of commending their families and thanking our community’s educators.”
