2 Women Arrested For $15K iPhone Thefts At Wayne Mall, Police Say

Two men suspected to be a part of the "organized retail theft crew" remain at large, police said.

WAYNE, NJ — Two women have been arrested for their role in a shoplifting scheme at Willowbrook Wall in Wayne, police said.

On two occasions in January, Wayne police were called to Willowbrook for shoplifting incidents in the mall’s Apple Store.

According to police, a total of $15,000 in merchandise was stolen from the store in the two incidents.

Investigators determined that the same people were responsible for each incident.

An investigation determined the license plate of one of the suspect vehicles, and found it was traveling in Fort Lee one night. Wayne police notified the Fort Lee Police Department, and a traffic stop on the car was conducted.

Fort Lee police identified two female suspects in the car, who were released at that time. Meanwhile, Wayne police were preparing arrest warrants for the two women.

Days later, on Jan. 15, the two women were arrested by Millburn police for a separate theft investigation. The pair was handed over to the Wayne Police Department.

Angelina Miclescu, 18, and Irina Bacelan, 23, both of Harrington Park, were each charged with second-degree shoplifting as part of an “organized retail theft crew.”
