4 Shot, 2 Dead In Overnight North Jersey Shooting: Police

The 4 people were shot inside of a BMW, authorities said.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Two people are dead and one is critically injured after they and another person were shot while sitting in a BMW in Paterson Sunday night, authorities said.

Police responded to call of shots fired on 12 Avenue at 11:18 p.m. and were directed to East 18th Street and Broadway where they found a BMW with four shooting victims inside, said Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.

A 33-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's University Medical Center, Valdes said.

A 32-year-old woman was in critical condition Monday morning and a 30-year-old man's injuries were non life-threatening, Valdes said.

The victims were in the BMW on 12th Avenue when they shot and then drove off until the vehicle stopped near East 18th Street and Broadway, the prosecutor said.

Authorities are investigating the shooting and will release more information when it becomes available and the victims' families have been notified.
