4-Year-Old Among 5 Shot At Backyard Gathering In Passaic County

None died, but four people were hospitalized after the Passaic shooting.

PASSAIC, NJ — Five people, including a 4-year-old, were shot during a backyard gathering early Sunday morning in Passaic. None died, but four were hospitalized.

Authorities responded just before 1 a.m. Sunday to a shooting around Lafayette and Howe Avenues. Two unknown gunmen opened fire, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.

Police found the following people sustained gunshot wounds: a 4-year-old, a 21-year-old Passaic woman, a 25-year-old Newark woman and a 29-year-old Newark man.

Officials took all four to Saint Joseph's University Medical Center. Police also found a fifth victim — a 21-year-old Passaic man — who refused medical treatment.
