7-Eleven Coming To Hamburg Turnpike

The 2,500-square-foot store will be open 24 hours a day.

WAYNE, NJ — A 7-Eleven convenience store is coming to one of the busiest intersections in town.

The store will share the property at the corner of Hamburg Turnpike and Alps Road with an Exxon gas station. The Planning Board approved the application Monday.

The approval comes four months after the board rejected the original plan because of traffic concerns.

"It's a much more palatable plan than the first mess you were here with," Mayor Chris Vergano, a member of the Planning Board, said Monday night.

The board criticized NJ Energy Corp.'s application in August because of multiple entrances and exits at the intersection.

NJ Energy responded by changing the number of gas pumps to eight, down from the original 10, and got rid of the western Alps Road driveway.
