PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — More smoke from the ongoing wildfires in Canada will affect the air quality in North Jersey on Thursday, and an air quality alert has already been issued for Passaic County.

The National Weather Service has the county under an alert for poor air quality from Wednesday night at midnight, through 12 a.m. Thursday.

"Sensitive individuals, including those with heart or lung disease, the elderly, and the young should limit strenuous activities and the amount of time active outdoors," the NWS said. "Levels of fine particulates will remain elevated in the unhealthy for sensitive groups category statewide on Thursday due to residual Canadian wildfire smoke."
