Alzheimer's Association Greater NJ Chapter - Volunteer Spotlight
Those living with Alzheimer's, and their caregivers, are not alone.
The Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, the leading volunteer-driven voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, advocacy and research is spotlighting people who make a difference in the fight to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today we say "thank you" to Debby Montone, RN, CDP, who serves as a community educator and Caregiver Support Group facilitator at Van Dyk Park Place in Hawthorne, NJ. Debby has created an environment where those living with dementia and their care partner(s) are free to share their emotions, frustrations and fears, with others experiencing similar changes. Ideas are exchanged, bonds are formed, and participants gain knowledge and confidence in their ability to handle what comes next as the disease progresses. Ms. Montone says, “One of the most beautiful reactions is when the caregiver exclaims - I am not alone”.
Debby enjoys helping people and is passionate about providing a safe place for caregivers, family and friends of persons with Alzheimer’s, to develop a support system, exchange practical information on caregiving challenges and possible solutions, and learn about community resources.
