PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Passaic County man was hospitalized this week after intervening in a domestic violence incident between a couple.
On Tuesday, around 10:45 a.m., Paterson police were called to a home on Highland Street on reports of a fight, later determined to be a domestic violence incident.
Investigators determined that a verbal argument erupted in the household between the suspect and a female victim, according to officials.
During the exchange, the suspect pulled a knife and stabbed a third person who tried to intervene in the head and neck, police said.
The stabbing victim was rushed to a nearby hospital to be treated for several slash and stab wounds.
The suspect was found nearby after a brief search. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, criminal mischief, weapons offenses, and endangering the welfare of children.
Due to the domestic nature of the incident, police have not released the names of either the suspect or the victims.
