PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Passaic County man was hospitalized this weekend after being stabbed and beaten by several people, police said.
On Sunday, around 4:15 a.m., the man, 21, was walking home from what police described as a “location selling alcohol unlicensed and outside normal business hours,” when he was jumped near Main Street and Broadway in Paterson, authorities said.
The victim told police he was beaten by an "unknown number of men,” at least one of whom had a knife. He was left with several stab and slash wounds, according to police.
First responding police officers treated him until he was taken to a nearby hospital. He was in stable condition as of Monday morning.
No arrests have been made, and the incident is being investigated by the Paterson Police Department Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call the unit at 973-321-1120.
Paterson police called these unlicensed establishments "a source of crime in the city."
