Taco Bell Burrito Breaks NJ Woman’s Teeth, Lawsuit Says

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A woman is suing a Passaic County Taco Bell franchise after she broke her teeth on a foreign object in her burrito.

On June 17, 2025, Valentina Colon visited the Taco Bell on Prospect Street in the city of Passaic. She ordered a burrito from the fast food chain, and when she bit into it, she also bit down on a metal screw inside, the suit says.

According to the lawsuit, Colon sustained broken teeth, severe dental trauma, food poisoning, pain, suffering, and emotional distress from biting the burrito, more specifically, the screw within it.

Additionally, Colon underwent medical and dental treatment following the incident, for which she continues to incur costs, the suit says. It adds that some of the damage was permanent, hindering her from performing everyday activities.

The suit claims that the establishment was negligent in its food preparation, saying that the inclusion of the screw in the burrito, as well as the failure to identify it before serving, rendered the food “unreasonably dangerous, defective, adulterated, and not fit for consumption.”

The Passaic franchise, as well as owner Hazal Bell, are mentioned in the suit.

Colon is seeking damages for her medical and dental bills, as well as punitive damages.
