PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A teenager was shot this morning in Passaic County, according to prosecutors.
On Tuesday, around 2:45 a.m., police were called to 129 East Holsman Street in Paterson on reports of shots being fired.
Authorities arrived to find a 14-year-old gunshot victim on the sidewalk. The teen was rushed to a nearby hospital to be treated for nonfatal wounds, authorities said.
Paterson police said they were unable to locate evidence of a shooting at the East Holsman Street location.
The investigation is underway, and anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or may have additional information is asked to call the Paterson Police Detective Bureau at 973-321-1120.

This is the latest of a string of shootings in the area. On Sunday, two men in Paterson were shot.
Just a few miles away in Passaic, two women and a six-year-old child were shot several hours later.
One week ago, a mass shooting in Paterson claimed the lives of two people and sent four more to the hospital.
No arrests have been announced in any of the aforementioned shootings as of Tuesday morning. There has been no indication from authorities that they are related.
Gun violence in Paterson, according to local police, has been down in recent years. Police say last year, the number of people shot in Paterson has dropped compared to 2024, with 41 shooting victims compared to 83, a 50.6 percent decrease.
Local authorities cited “the ongoing efforts of the PPD and community partners to reduce gun violence and improve safety across the city” as the reason for the drop in shootings.
