PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A massive fire turned parts of a Passaic County junkyard into ashes this week.
On Tuesday, just before midnight, a huge fire was reported at an auto recycling junkyard on Weaver Road in West Milford.
The blaze prompted all West Milford fire crews, as well as mutual aid departments, to respond. The New Jersey State Forest Fire Service was also on the scene, officials said.
According to Mayor Michele Dale, the three-alarm blaze forced authorities to close Weaver Road between Macopin and Otterhole roads for several hours as crews fought the fire.
NJ.com reported that the fire had spread through the large outdoor plant.
The fire was contained early Wednesday morning, and Weaver Road was reopened by 9 a.m.
Authorities did not report any injuries, and there was no major damage to structures reported.
“We want to thank all of our mutual aid partners for their assistance, and especially our West Milford Fire Departments and all responding members for their hard work, dedication, and professionalism throughout this incident,” Dale said.
