WAYNE, NJ — Future footballers have the opportunity to learn from one of the best in the game now, New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo.
On Saturday, from 3 to 7 p.m., Skattebo will be joining FlexWork Sports at DePaul High School in Wayne to help coach local young athletes on football fundamentals. The sessions, for kids ages six to 16, will feature interactive sessions, skill stations, and opportunities to “help them hone their craft on the gridiron, while teaching them the value of sportsmanship both on and off the field.”
In addition to learning the ins and outs of football, Skattebo will be engaged in Q&As, photo opportunities, casual interactions, and spontaneous engagement.
Skattebo’s visit to Wayne is part of a tri-state series of visits. He’ll also be visiting schools in Connecticut and New York.
“Skattebo, who is passionate about giving back to the local community, is teaming up with FlexWork Sports to provide a fun, engaging, and high-energy experience for kids,” a FlexWork Sports statement read.
Skattebo appeared in eight games during his rookie season with the Giants before suffering a season-ending ankle injury, rushing for 410 yards and five touchdowns on 101 carries while adding 24 catches for 207 yards and two receiving scores. He's expected to return with the G-Men Week 1 this NFL season.
