On May 24, around 8:30 p.m., police were called to the Willowbrook Mall’s Urban Planet store following reports of a “peeping tom” in the mall.

Authorities said two women were entering a changing room when a man, later identified as Maggette, was standing very close to them.

After the women entered the changing room, Maggette entered the neighboring stall and lay on the ground, peaking under to watch the women undress, police said. Maggette was also shirtless at this time, authorities added.

That same evening, two underage girls reported being harassed by Maggette at the mall’s attached Cinemark movie theater, officials said.

According to authorities, Maggette approached the girls in the movie theater lobby and spoke to them, asking what movie they were going to watch.

Maggette then followed the girls into the theater and sat directly next to one of them, police say.

Maggette was recording them with his cell phone while covering his groin with his sweatshirt, officials said. One hand began “rhythmically moving back and forth” beneath this sweatshirt, police added.

It was when Maggette began touching one of the underage girls’ thighs that they exited the theater and reported the incident to security, police say.

Police responded to the mall and found Maggette in the theater with his pants off, officials said.

Maggette admitted to being in the clothing store, and the movie theater, and all four victims positively identified him as the person who harassed them, police said.

He was charged with two counts of invasion of privacy, criminal sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child, and harassment. He was taken to the Passaic County Jail Intake Hub to await court proceedings.

The investigation into Maggette is still underway, and anyone who has additional information on this case or a similar incident involving him is asked to call the Wayne Police Detective Bureau at 973-633-3530.
