PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Passaic County man was arrested last week following a swift response to a home invasion by police, authorities said.
On Thursday, around 1:20 p.m., police were called to the 300 block of Van Houten Street on reports of a residential break-in.
The home invader had left the scene when police arrived, and officials launched an investigation after securing the area, according to authorities.
Following an investigation, police learned both the name and location of the primary suspect. A short distance from the scene, police arrested Rishee Jackson, 47, of Paterson.
Jackson was charged with home invasion, terroristic threats, and theft.
If convicted, Jackson could face up to 30 years in prison and more than $200,000 in fines.
“There is a saying in policing that seconds matter, and these officers did not waste a single one in their investigation and apprehension of the suspect,” said Officer in Charge Patrick Murray. “Home invasions are among the most serious crimes we investigate because they violate the safety and security people expect in their own home. I commend every officer involved for their fast and diligent work on this case."
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office is handling Jackson's case.
