The built-at-home stunt plane was supposed to be featured in a nearby air show.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — An investigation is underway after a small stunt plane crash-landed into a Passaic County pond, officials say.

On Saturday, around 6 p.m., officials were called to Green Turtle Pond in the Awosting section of West Milford on reports of a plane crash.

Authorities discovered that a SubSonex JSX-2, an amateur-built stunt plane, had entered the water. Only the pilot was on board, and he removed himself from the plane following the crash, police said.

The pilot refused medical attention, police added.

New Jersey Park Police are investigating the crash, according to authorities.

The small jet was reportedly registered to fly in the NJ Airshow in West Milford that evening, according to NJ.com.

The SubSonex Jet, known as a "kit plane," arrives to the buyer as a kit and is assembled at home. The one-seat plane has a two-foot cockpit, an 18-foot wingspan, and weighs around 500 lbs. It can be purchased for around $152,000.
