Passaic Co. Man Medevaced After E-Scooter Crash, Cops Say

The man was airlifted with major injuries after losing control of his E-scooter, authorities say.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Passaic County man was seriously injured this weekend after crashing on his electric scooter, according to police.

On Saturday, just before 8 p.m., police were called to Hamburg Turnpike and Vreeland Avenue in Bloomingdale on an initial report that someone had been hit by a car.

Authorities instead discovered that a 41-year-old man had lost control of his e-scooter and slammed into a guardrail, police said.

The man suffered "serious injuries" after being thrown from the scooter and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials said.

The man was still under medical care on Sunday, police added.

The hospitalization comes days after the Garden State's new electric vehicle regulations were put into effect. To learn more about New Jersey's e-vehicle laws, click here.
