2-Year-Old Overdoses On Cocaine, North Jersey Man Charged, Police Say

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Passaic County man was charged after a two-year-old boy got into cocaine during a trip to the Jersey Shore, prosecutors say.

Alexander T. Moles, 39, of Ringwood, faces both drug and child endangerment charges following the frightening incident in Wildwood last week.

On July 20, the fire and EMS responded to a vehicle on 21st and New Jersey avenues on reports of a sick 2-year-old boy, prosecutors said.

Officials say Moles was driving the toddler to the hospital because the boy was having difficulty breathing.

EMS gave the boy two doses of Narcan, which he responded to, and took him to a nearby hospital for further treatment, according to authorities.

Officials say the boy's blood tested positive for cocaine.

The following day, Moles was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of prescription legend drugs.

Authorities did not disclose the relationship between Moles and the child, but determined they were on vacation together.

Moles was taken to the Cape May County Correctional Facility and released with conditions at his detention hearing on Friday.
