PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Additional details have surfaced with regard to the Passaic County man who is accused of sexually assaulting an 80-year-old woman.
John Schweininger, 54, of Hawthorne, faces several sex assault charges following an incident at his Hawthorne home last month.
According to an affidavit of arrest, Schweininger's girlfriend was out with friends on Aug. 22 while Schweininger and her 80-year-old mother were at home, where they all lived together.
Schweininger checked on her mother through a Ring camera feed, something she does frequently due to health concerns, police records show.
The Ring camera footage showed Schweininger naked on top of his girlfriend's mother, police said.
Schweininger's girlfriend immediately called 9-1-1, and authorities arrived to observe the scene and collect evidence.
The following day, the victim was interviewed by police, where she told investigators that Schweininger had touched her shoulders and chest before he pulled both of their pants down and had sex with her, the affidavit reads.
Schweininger also forced the woman to have oral sex with him, according to police records.
Records say the victim told Schweininger that she felt uncomfortable during the incident, which lasted several minutes, and that she thought, "What the hell is he doing?"
After an investigation, authorities issued a warrant for Schweininger's arrest. He was apprehended on Aug. 26 in Haledon.
Schweininger is charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree
aggravated criminal sexual contact.
The state has filed a motion to keep Schweininger in custody as his court proceedings unfold.
If convicted, Schweininger faces up to 35 years in prison.
