Wayne Warns Homeowners Of Costly New Phone Scam

WAYNE, NJ — Wayne Township officials are warning residents about a new phone scam that threatens homeowners with the potential loss of their property.

Township officials said they recently became aware of callers claiming that a resident's property is in a tax sale with Wayne and suggesting that the homeowner could lose their home.

Officials said the information being provided by the callers is "highly likely" to be false and urged residents not to provide personal information or send money to anyone making such claims.

Anyone who receives one of the calls should verify the payment status of their property directly with the township before taking any action, officials said.
