PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Passaic County jury has convicted two men of murdering a woman in 2021, officials announced.
On Tuesday, Jefersson Gonzalez, 25, and Elvis DeJesus, 29, both of Paterson, were convicted on several charges, including first-degree murder.
The charges stem from an incident on Dec. 2, 2021. That evening, 25-year-old Jasmin Wel, of Paterson, was shot to death in her car outside her home on East. 24th Street.
In 2022, after an investigation, Kristian Gonzalez, of Lyndhurst, was arrested for Wel's murder. He was later acquitted of all charges.
Further investigation revealed that Jefersson Gonzalez and DeJesus had been behind the fatal shooting.
The pair was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and tampering with evidence, all of which they were found guilty of on Tuesday.
The pair is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 4.
