PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Filmmakers are looking for real authenticity in an upcoming "Miami Vice" reboot, which is being shot in Passaic County.
According to a recent casting call, filmmakers are seeking police officers with real law enforcement experience to play background extras in the upcoming reboot, which stars Oscar-winner (and NJ native) Michael B. Jordan and Oscar-nominated Austin Butler.
The film, which is of course set in the 1980s, is shooting across the Garden State, with faux palm trees spotted in a Wayne shopping center recently, giving the suburb a true 'Miami' feel.
The casting call is seeking Latino and white men between their 20s and 50s with real law enforcement experience.
Hair should have "a little length," though those with naturally bald heads are being accepted as well. As for facial hair, sideburns are allowed, and facial hair should be mustache only, true "Miami Vice" style.
Applicants should expect to have the crew do their make-up, trim their facial hair, and possibly hit them with a spray tan, according to the casting call.
Large tattoos and piercings are discouraged, with most extras wearing short sleeves and shorts, as Miami police officers did 40 years ago.
Tentative filming dates are Oct. 15, 16, 26, and 30, as well as Nov. 2 and 5. Casted applicants are not expected to work every one of these days, the casting call reads.
The job pays $241 for eight hours of shooting. To learn more and apply, click here.
