Anti-drug community forum is April 20

Local, county, and state officials will discuss the current drug trends among middle- and high school-aged students.

A special community anti-drug forum will be held at Wayne Valley HIgh School next Monday.

Local, county, and state law enforcement officials will discuss the latest drug trends, including heroin and prescription drug use, among middle- and high school-aged students. The forum will held from 7 to 9 p.m.

Superintendent Mark Toback and Mayor Chris Vergano are sponsoring the forum.

“Superintendent Toback and I believe that effective communication and education can help township residents to overcome this most challenging issue,” said Vergano. ”For that reason, we strongly encourage you and your middle- and high school-aged children to attend this very important event.”

  • Lt. Colon of the New Jersey State Police Intelligence Services Bureau
  • Capt. Laurence Martin of the Wayne Police Department
  • Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik
  • Francine Vince with the Passaic County Department of Health

The Wayne Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse, a non-profit, has been at the forum in the past. The Alliance has provided information about the services it offers, how to prevent children from taking drugs, and the latest in drug trends.
