Beloved Grandmother Killed In Double-Fatal NJ Motorcycle Crash

Kimberley Stoll had everything. She was a fighter, a grandmother, a bike rider. Now she and her companion, Kasey Checke, are gone.

Kimberley Stoll had just about everything. She was a fighter, a grandmother and a bike rider. But most importantly, she had one of the closest bonds with her daughter that few had ever seen.

Then came last weekend, when Kimberly was critically injured in a double-fatal motorcycle crash. She died Tuesday.

But before she passed, Kimberley, 57, was the fighter she typically was, and she battled through numerous surgeries and medical procedures before she passed, said a friend, Krista Nunziato.

Now those same friends are grieving, and remembering Kimberly, and also looking for ways to celebrate the lives of the Hawthorne resident and 49-year-old Ramsey resident, Kasey Checke, who was also riding on the bike and died in the motorcycle crash. Checke owned an auto body shop in Ramsey.

That's also why those friends are trying to give back. "We would like to let her (daughter), her husband and her 7-month old son grieve in peace and (be) worry-free," said Nunziato.

Nunziato and friends are trying to raise money to help her daughter, Jessica Miranda, and son in-law, Matthew Miranda, pay for a memorial service as well as any other costs relating to the accident. They've set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for it.

The accident happened at approximately 9:44 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, when Hawthorne Police responded to Lafayette Avenue in response to a collision involving a 2017 Jeep Wrangler and a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was not injured. The operator of the Harley Davidson, Checke, was pronounced dead at approximately 10:13 p.m. on June 30; his passenger, identified as Kimberly Stoll, was initially transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in critical condition.

Stoll was pronounced dead early Tuesday morning at approximately 1:18 a.m. The investigation, being conducted by the Hawthorne Police Department, in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department, remains active and ongoing.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office asks anyone with additional information about this incident to contact the tips line at 1-877-370-PCPO (7276) or tips@passaiccountynj.org, or the Hawthorne Police Detective Bureau at 973-427- 1800.

On GoFundMe, friends have collected more than $2,000 toward their $10,000 goal. They've also used it as opportunity to say goodbye to someone who was full of life.

"We love and will miss you, Kimmy. You truly were one of the friendliest and kindest people we have ever met. So many memories together," one couple wrote.
