Wayne 16-Year-Old, Bicyclist Seriously Hurt In Collision: Police

The bicyclist, Paul H. Saltwick, 58, is in serious but stable condition at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, police said.

WAYNE, N.J. — A 16-year-old boy was seriously hurt after colliding with a bicyclist near Packanack Lake Wednesday morning, police said.

The collision occurred on Lake Drive East at about 11:31 a.m. as the 16-year-old was crossing the street and Paul H. Saltwick, 58, was traveling southbound, said Lt. Daniel Daly, Wayne Police Traffic Bureau commander.

The Wayne Police, Wayne Memorial First Aid Squad, and paramedics from St. Joseph's Medical Center responded to the scene. Paramedics transported both people to the hospital, Daly said.

Saltwick was listed in serious, but stable condition Thursday afternoon, Daly said. The boy's condition was not released.

Police are investigating the incident. Saltwick was riding a black and orange Fuji Aloha bicycle. Anyone with information should call the traffic bureau at 973-633-3520.
