New Assistant Principals, Principal to Join Wayne Schools

Anthony Wayne will get new principal due to Michael Ben-David being hired as the district's new director of secondary education.

A new Anthony Wayne Middle School principal was hired at the Board of Education meeting Thursday.

David Aulenbach will replace Michael Ben-David. Ben-David is the district’s new director of secondary education. He is replacing Cathy Labate.

Aulenbach has a master’s degree from Montclair State University. His $127,000 annual salary will be pro-rated from Oct. 29, or sooner if possible, according to the agenda. Ben-David earned $131,000 annually.

Assistant Principal Michael Rewick moves from Wayne Valley to Wayne Hills High School. Five other assistant principals were hired, two more for Wayne Hills and three for Wayne Valley high schools. The assistant principals are part of a restructuring of the district’s school-level administrators.

Four principals will welcome students at Pines Lake, Theunis Dey, and Randall Carter elementary schools and Wayne Valley High School when school begins Sept. 9.
