Carnival Worker Dies Of Heroin OD In Paterson Park

The body of a 29-year-old carnival worker was found Thursday morning, police said. The death was the result of a heroin overdose.

The body was found next to a Paterson trailer that is used as sleeping quarters for the workers in a baseball field at Paterson's West Side Park, according to authorities.

The incident happened at 5:34 a.m. Thursday morning, when police responded on a report of an unresponsive male in the RV trailer in the park, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.

Upon their arrival, officers located the deceased male and his girlfriend who reported that she discovered her boyfriend unresponsive and cold to the touch when she woke up at approximately 5:22 a.m., according to the PCPO.

The preliminary results of the investigation suggest that the death resulted from an overdose of heroin, and there is no indication that the death is suspicious.

An autopsy will be performed by the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the manner and cause of death.

At this time, no suspects are being sought, and there is nothing to indicate that there is any danger to the public, according to the PCPO.

The identity of deceased will be released once there has been notification to the next of kin.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Paterson Police Department, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, and the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s Office. More information will be released once it becomes available.
