Bowling For Turkeys, Interfaith Thanksgiving: Upcoming Events In Wayne
Check out some of the community events going on through the rest of November in Wayne Township.
WAYNE, NJ —Thanksgiving is a time to give back, and to gather together — and several upcoming events in Wayne Township mark this time by helping others, having fun, and sharing in a spirit of unity.
And, with the holiday season right around the corner, the township has several events marked on the calendar — trimming up the Christmas tree and preparing to light the menorah.

"Bowling for Turkeys" food drive
- Saturday, Nov. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m.
- T-Bowl Lanes, 300 Preakness Shopping Center, Wayne
Mayor Christopher Vergano will challenge the township's best bowlers, and raise funds and donations for the Wayne Interfaith Network food pantry. Prizes will be awarded to the highest individual game for two age groups. All bowlers are asked to bring a minimum of one pound of non-perishable food, and can bring more to add to their final score. (Registration period has passed.)

Wayne Schools Unified Sports "Turkey Trot" fundraiser
- Saturday, Nov. 18, starting at 9 a.m.
- Wayne Hills High School, 272 Berdan Ave.
The Wayne Special Parents Association is holding this event, which in its first year, to support and raise awareness for the Unified Sports Program. This program joins people with and without special needs on the same sports team, promoting inclusion and understanding. The run begins and ends at the Wayne Hills track.

Interfaith Thanksgiving Service
- Monday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.
- Our Lady of Consolation Church, 1799 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne.
The Wayne Clergy Council and local faith-based institutions will gather for this community tradition, which has taken place for more than 30 years. Neighbors of all faiths are welcome to attend and share a meal. Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable item to be donated to the WIN food pantry.

- Township Christmas tree lighting ceremony: Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Wayne Town Hall
- Township Chanukah celebration and menorah lighting: Thursday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at Wayne Town Hall
- Santa Train: Saturday, Dec. 9 2023 at 9 a.m., leaving from the Wayne/Route 23 transit center (Tickets are sold out, but there is a waiting list).
- Wayne winter market: First and third Saturdays in December from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wayne YMCA.
