ABOUT MAREL HIDALGO

Marel Hidalgo is a seventeen-year old guitarist, banjoist, arranger and bandleader from New Jersey. He began playing guitar at the age of four and debuted in public with a solo show just a few months later. By the age of six he formed his first band, performing during those early years a variety of musical genres, including blues, reggae, progressive rock, Latin, funk, country, bluegrass and fusion very successfully at a local and national level making presentations in places such as The Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland -several times-, The Denver Day of Rock in Colorado or being featured on the Harry Connick Jr.’s TV show on national television.

After eight year of leading his bands on said genres, Marel began performing solo jazz guitar concerts, and shortly after he lead his first straight-ahead jazz trio. His playing quickly caught the attention of the jazz scene in the area and in the last year alone, Marel has been highly active playing in jazz clubs, venues and festivals in the East Coast and the Midwest, as well as overseas, such as in France and Costa Rica, performing in prestigious venues, clubs and festivals, usually either leading his Jamaican/Caribbean jazz quartet, in which he blends reggae, calypso, soca, dub, rocksteady, and mento with jazz, or leading organ trios in the straight-ahead tradition. He has worked and played alongside many jazz legends such as drummers Billy Hart, Roger Humphries, Winard Harper, Tommy Campbell, G. Earl Grice, Carlomagno Araya, bassists John Lee, Dwayne Dolphin, Gary Mazzaroppi, organists Pat Bianchi, Radam Schwartz, Leonieke Scheuble and saxophonists Tony Campbell, Don Aliquo Sr., Antoine Roney, Julius Tolentino, and many more.

ABOUT LEONIEKE SCHEUBLE

When Dr. Lonnie Smith (one of the most famous jazz organists of all time), was shown a clip of Leonieke playing piano he said, "you've been here before!" When told of her interest in organ, he sent her a Hammond organ as a gift. She was just 10 years old. By age 11, she would win an award from the International Women in Jazz, do an hour long feature over radio station WBGO, and be recorded by legendary engineer, Rudy Van Gelder along with Miles Davis' drummer, Jimmy Cobb.
In the years to follow, Leonieke would go on to win a second International Women in Jazz award, the New Jersey Governor's award and her most prestigious award to date, the Hot House Fan Decision

Award for "Best Up and Coming Young Artist.” Leonieke also has become a guest lecturer of music, and a TEDx speaker. In July 2022, Leonieke signed an agreement with the Hammond/Suzuki company becoming a Hammond Artist!, a relationship that is bestowed upon very few.
From April to June 2025, Leonieke led her band “Leonieke & the New York Groove” representing the United States of America at the World’s Fair in Japan (Osaka EXPO 2025). In addition, she continues to be featured in numerous publications, and leads a Jazz Trio with world-renowned bassist, Bill Crow. Their group, “The 3 Generations of Jazz Trio”, was recently featured in the Neal Minor documentary entitled: “Bill Crow: Jazz Journeyman.”
