The police officer was taken to the hospital to be treated for a leg injury, officials said.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Passaic County police officer was injured this week after being hit by a car while helping another motorist, officials said.

On Wednesday, just after 9:30 p.m., a Clifton police officer was helping the driver of a disabled vehicle on Route 21 North near Route 46.

At that time, two merging vehicles collided at a “relatively low speed,” one of them, a Honda Civic driven by a 24-year-old Saddle Brook woman, then struck the officer and the disabled vehicle, police said.
