Passaic Co. Woman Fatally Shoots Partner, Takes Her Own Life: Prosecutor

Police responded to a Paterson home for a report of a shooting.

PATERSON, NJ — Authorities found two bodies Monday in a Paterson home in what they believe to be a murder-suicide. Investigation revealed that Chacquese Barnes fatally shot her significant other before taking her own life, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation remains active, but officials aren't seeking any suspects and there is no danger to the public.

Paterson police responded at about 7:45 a.m. Monday for a report of a shooting at 162 Redwood Ave. They found two deceased: Barnes, 33, and 34-year-old Julius McCutcheon— both of Paterson.

The prosecutor's office said it would release more information when it becomes available.
