With COVID Cases Rising, How Are Hospital Capacities Near Wayne?
NJ hit its highest number of suspected or confirmed COVID hospitalizations since April 23. Here's how hospitals in the Wayne area are doing.
WAYNE, NJ — The recent spike in COVID-19 cases has put New Jersey hospitals under some stress. The state reported 1,902 hospital patients with confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases — its highest figure since April 23.
Here's how hospitals in the Wayne area fared the week of Dec. 9 — the most recent period of available data from the Department of Health and Human Services:
- St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital: data unavailable
- St. Joseph's University Medical Center (Paterson): 36.6 percent of inpatient beds available, 58.02 percent of ICU beds available
- Chilton Medical Center (Pompton Plains): 35.35 percent of inpatient beds available, 48.48 percent of ICU beds available
- St. Mary's General Hospital (Passaic): 50 percent of inpatient beds available, 62.5 percent of ICU beds available
- Valley Hospital (Ridgewood): 17.05 percent of inpatient beds available, 38.1 percent of ICU beds available
- Mountainside Medical Center (Montclair): 34.57 percent of inpatient beds available, 59.38 percent of ICU beds available
Despite the recent increase in hospitalizations, New Jersey has made progress compared to this time a year ago, when the state reported 3,608 COVID patients in hospitals.
