Cyber Attack Takes Down NJ County’s Phones, IT Systems
Investigators are looking to find what caused the attack while attempting to fix the tech issues.
PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A cyber attack on Passaic County’s IT systems has investigators scrambling to fix it and learn what caused it.
According to officials, a malware attack is affecting the IT systems and impacting phone lines across the county.
It seems phone lines went down sometime on Wednesday morning, with a county announcement being posted around 9 a.m.

“Our team is actively working with federal and state officials to investigate and contain the issue,” officials said. “We will provide updates as soon as the situation has been resolved.”
It’s not clear at this time specifically what systems were targeted or why.

Authorities said that several other municipalities in Passaic County have experienced similar issues recently.
No updates have been made since Wednesday evening.
