Death Threat To Children, Lewdness Now On Wayne Man's Extensive Rap Sheet: Police
The man has been in trouble with Wayne police several times in the past half-year, according to local authorities.
WAYNE, NJ — A Wayne resident with an extensive rap sheet added additional charges to his record with two recent incidents: a death threat toward children at a restaurant and public urination near a school, police said.
Wayne police say they've arrested Stephen Sales 10 times since July 2. He's currently banned from several local businesses because of his "disorderly and threatening behavior," authorities said.
He was placed in Passaic County Jail, pending a detention hearing, following a Jan. 10 incident — the most recent involving Sales that Wayne police have reported.

On New Year's Eve, Sales walked into a Hamburg Turnpike restaurant and approached patrons at their tables, police said. He was carrying a beer can and appeared intoxicated, according to authorities.
Sales, 42, then pointed at the patrons' children and threatened to kill them, police said. The restaurant previously banned Sales for similar behavior, according to officials.

The man was charged with defiant trespass and terroristic threats. Officials placed him in the county jail, pending a detention hearing, after which he was released.
Wayne police responded to another incident involving Sales at about 4 p.m. Jan. 10. Sales was intoxicated and belligerent toward court staff at the window of the Wayne Township Violations Bureau, authorities said.
Officers directed Sales to leave the building, and officials gave him information to connect with his court hearing via cell phone, which he did. Police kept sight of Sales as he walked away from Town Hall.
Then officers saw him pause on the front lawn of Wayne Valley High School, where Sales exposed his genitals and urinated, police said. He did so while facing the school during daylight with students still on campus, authorities said.
Sales was charged with lewdness, endangering the welfare of children and disorderly conduct.
