Turn In Your Unwanted Drugs To New Milford Police Saturday

The New Milford Police Department will be collecting potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — The New Milford Police Department will be collecting potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction on Saturday.

This collection will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is part of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's Operation Take Back.

This initiative seeks to prevent increased pill abuse and theft. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. All residents are encouraged to participate and dispose of their unwanted prescriptions in a safe manner.

Residents can drop off prescriptions at the New Milford Police Department at 930 River Road.

Local and state officials, including Governor Christie, have encouraged residents to turn in their medications, especially painkillers, as a way of combatting the ongoing heroin epidemic.
