Early Dismissal At Wayne Schools, Activities Cancelled For Poor Air Quality
Wayne Schools are following a "minimal day schedule" for June 7. Extended day and after-school activities are cancelled.

WAYNE, NJ — Air quality concerns have prompted Wayne Public Schools to dismiss early Wednesday and cancel all extended day and after-school activities.
Information about rescheduling field trips will be sent directly from building principals, added Wayne school officials.
An Air Quality Alert is in effect in Passaic County and other North Jersey counties, as smoke from massive wildfires in Canada has made the air uncomfortable to breathe for many, and unsafe for certain groups like children and the elderly. "Levels of fine particulates will rise into unhealthy for sensitive groups category statewide today and Thurssday and likely last into the evening hours both days due to wildfire smoke transport from eastern Canadian wildfires," said the National Weather Service. "In addition, ozone is forecast to reach the moderate category on Wednesday as sunny skies, light winds, and warm temperatures are forecast for the Garden State."
